The Broad-Based Coalition leadership, led by President William Ruto and ODM Party Leader Hon. Oburu Odinga met in Naivasha to review the Government’s progress over the past four years and take stock of what has been achieved so far.
We recognise that the country was under significant economic pressure in 2022. Since then, we have focused on investing in Kenyans, creating opportunities for young people, supporting businesses and farmers, and ensuring that development reaches all parts of the country.
In healthcare, the Social Health Authority (SHA) has brought reforms aimed at making healthcare more accessible to millions of Kenyans. The Affordable Housing Programme is also giving many families a chance to own decent homes, while reforms in agriculture are helping improve food production and farmers’ incomes.
Maize production has grown from 44 million bags in 2022 to 75 million bags in 2025.
Farmers are also seeing better returns in several sectors. Coffee prices have increased from Ksh. 50 to Ksh. 160 per kilogram, while milk prices have risen from Ksh. 25 to Ksh. 50 per litre. In the sugar sector, efforts to revive Mumias, Sony and Chemelil sugar factories are also underway.
Further, 6,000KM of roas tarmac is under construction in in every part of Kenya as well as construction of 32 stadiums.
On public finances, the Single Treasury Account has improved the Government’s oversight of its funds. In July, this helped reduce interest paid to commercial banks from Ksh. 9 billion to Ksh. 30 million.
These are some of the issues we reflected on in Naivasha as we look at the work ahead. Our record over the past four years will be central to our case for more time to continue with the work of transforming the country.
The meeting brought together 392 Broad-Based Coalition leaders and CabinetSecretaries, including 312 Members of the National Assembly, 48 Senators, 23 Governors, and 24 Deputy Governors.
Also present were UDA National Chairperson H.E. Cecily Mbarire, UDA Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan, Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, and other leaders.
