The National Leadership Institute (NALI), Kyankwanzi, Uganda is a unique leadership institution under the general guidance of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Chairman and President of Uganda, H.E Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
The NRM Parliamentary Caucus Retreat is equally a unique programme blend of discipline, knowledge in government and Parliament, mental and physical fitness, and grounded on intellectual courage, ideology, and Pan Africanism.
The United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar Hassan had the opportunity to participate in this Retreat as a keynote Speaker.
While delivering a call to action to Parliamentary Caucus at NALI, Kyankwanzi, the Secretary General emphasized that Africa’s integration remains paramount in asserting the continent’s influence and advancing a comprehensive roadmap toward self-reliance, while decisively shaking off the ghosts of foreign domination in an evolving multipolar world.
Sen. Hassan underscored that deeper regional integration would unlock Africa’s vast potential, highlighting the continent’s combined market of over 1.4 billion people, a youthful and tech-savvy population, and abundant natural resources as critical ingredients for Africa’s next economic take-off.
President Gen. Yoweri Kaguta Museveni expressed confidence over what he described as the growing awakening among African leaders, with increasing voices advocating for continental integration.
He commended President William Ruto for his steadfast support of a Borderless Africa, noting that fragmentation remains one of the most significant bottlenecks hindering Africa’s prosperity and competitiveness.
President Museveni further emphasized that countries willing to forge ahead with integration efforts should not be held back by those moving at a slower pace, endorsing the “coalition of the willing” approach as a pragmatic pathway to fast-track the continent’s integration agenda and demonstrate the tangible benefits of unity.
