UDA Party Leader, President William Ruto presided over the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting where a raft of issues were discussed and key recommendations made.
Among the critical issues discussed was the ongoing political partnership between the Party, UDA, and the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, with NEC – the Party’s highest decision-making organ – agreeing on the need to elevate the Partnership and work towards a Coalition between UDA under the Kenya Kwanza Coalition, and ODM Party.
NEC consequently mandated the Party Leader to establish a mechanism for structured engagement with ODM Party.
The Party organ noted the decision by the ODM Central Management Committee resolve to initiate structured talks with UDA to not only strengthen the working political partnership, but also come up with a Coalition Agreement ahead of the 2027 General Elections.
The NEC meeting also received report from the National Elections Board (NEB) and the Elections and Nominations Disputes Resolution Committee (ENDRC) on the just conducted grassroots elections, noting the successes of the exercise, and further directing that elections in polling centres where polls were not held or concluded, be conducted within 30 days.
NEC also directed NEB to, thereafter, conduct Ward Level elections across the country within 30 days.
