UDA condemns violent Gen-Z protests

The UDA Party has condemned the violent protests witnessed on Wednesday that left business premises looted and private property vandalized in parts of the country.

UDA Secretary General Sen Hassan Omar said while the Constitution provides for the right to assemble and protest, the same cannot be used to provide a veil to cover and sanitize criminality.

In his statement, Sen. Omar said there was an incitement plot to sabotage President William Ruto’s national project of building a modern Kenya.

His statement read in part: “This violence has been as a culmination of prolonged, unchecked, deliberate and serial incitement by individuals and part of the mainstream media through perverse narratives of shareholding, contesting the inclusion of all Kenyans of all extractions, no matter how inconsequential they might appear into the various spheres of our national life.’

The party commended police officers for exhibiting courage and restraint on the face of violent protesters and opportunistic mobs, as a number of them sustained injuries from the protesters.

Sen. Omar was flanked by Deputy Executive Director Higgins Mbugua, Directors Margaret Andanyi, Rob Jillo, Daniel Kiptoo, Grace Gicovi, Omullo Jnr, Nathaniel Mong’are, Hallake Waqo.
