The UDA Disciplinary Committee has warned of stern action against those who will violate the party’s Regulations and Code of Conduct in the forthcoming grassroots elections slated for next week.
Speaking after a two-hour meeting at the party headquarters, the committee, led by chair Charles Njenga, said they will deploy officers to all the 22 counties to monitor any misconduct, warning anyone who will go against the law of dire consequences.
“The Disciplinary Committee shall not hesitate to take stern action, including but not limited to suspension, expulsion, fining, and any other sanction as provided for in the party constitution against members who will be found liable,” read in part their statement.
Members, they said, are warned against condoning disciplinary offenses including acts of violence, hooliganism, destruction of materials, misuse of digital spaces and social media platforms.
The committee also appealed to supporters in the 22 counties to come out in large numbers and participate in the phase two of the elections that resume after almost a year after suspension mid 2024.
Over 119,000 candidates will be battling it for various party posts on April 11 in Kitui, Makueni, Machakos, Kajiado, Taita Taveta, Kisii and Nyamira while Garissa, Tana River, Bungoma, Turkana, Migori, Kisumu, Siaya, Isiolo, Marsabit, Wajir, Mandera, Kwale, Mombasa, Kilifi and Lamu battle it out on April 12.
