United Democratic Alliance is putting up strategies to ensure the ruling party wins the Magarini by-election.
Secretary General Sen. Hassan Omar led the National Executive Committee members in a meeting with the UDA candidate Stanley Karisa Kenga, who was accompanied by Mzee Omar Msham at the party headquarters.
On 3rd March, 2023, Malindi High Court Judge Justice Alfred Mabeya nullified the August 9, 2022 victory of Harrison Garama Kombe in a petition presented by Kenga citing irregularities including vote interchange, vote stuffing among others.
The IEBC,which had declared victory for Kombe who garnered 11946 against Kenga’s 11925 votes in the hot contest, was ordered to conduct fresh elections.
Kombe’s attempts to stop the by-election were futile after both the Court of Appeal and Supreme Court upheld the High Court nullification leading to Speaker Moses Wetangula declaring the seat vacant late last year.
Sen Omar vowed to deliver the seat to the UDA through Kenga. The battle lines have been drawn with IEBC being constituted within the next few weeks.
