LAUNCH OF NATIONAL DISABILITY MULTIPARTY CAUCUS

The National Disability Multi Party Caucus (NDMC) has been established.The caucus will bring together Political Parties in Kenya in a move aimed at enhancing inclusive multi-party democracy.

The Westminster Foundation for Democracy (WFD), a non-departmental public body supported by United Kingdom’s Foreign and Commonwealth Office, is among them.

The Foundation is committed in strengthening multiparty democracies by working closely with elected representatives and Parliament caucuses.

The Foundation has partnered with Demo Finland in implementing Kenya Inclusive Political Parties Programme (KIPP) which seeks to strengthen the ability of Political Parties, and strategic actors, including Organizations of Persons with Disabilities (OPDs), Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), State Actors and Parliamentary Caucuses.

The programme, currently in its 3rd year, has delivered several activities aimed at supporting 20 Political Parties in Kenya to embrace inclusive multi-party democracy.

The UDA Party has been an active member of the NDMC and has seen through the establishment of the NMDC.

During the launch the *UDA Party was represented by Mr.Daniel Kiptoo- Director Programmes & Partnerships, Miss Miriam Opondo, Disability League Leader, Mrs.Connie Kaptuya, SIGs Manager, Mr. Joseph Kimathi, the Party Interpreter and Mr. Vincent Mabatuk from the Disability League.
